Quik 'n' Dri™
F.A.Q.
1) What is Quik ‘n’
Dri™?
Quik ‘n’ Dri™ is a hydrophilic elastomeric polymer that removes water
suspended in WVO and Biodiesel. It will also remove water within
recovered methanol though it will also remove trace amounts of the
methanol at the same time. Quik ‘n’ Dri™ is approximately 1000 microns and
1 lb has a dry volume of 600ml. The product is superabsorbent which
means it will remove more than its weight in water. It is tolerant
of salty environment and 1lb will remove 12 gallons of suspended water.
2) What makes Quik ‘n’ Dri™
suited for use with biodiesel?
Beyond just its mere efficacy Quik ‘n’ Dri™ was designed to work in a
highly solvent environment and will not disintegrate in your biodiesel,
unlike polyacrylate salts and others absorbents materials found in diapers
and soil maintenance products.
3) Won't WVO stick to Quik
‘n’ Dri™ clogging it and prevent it from working?
The water trapped inside the molecular structure of Quik ‘n’ Dri™ acts
as a protective sheet and causes WVO to slip easily from the Quik ‘n’ Dri™
surface.
4) How long does it take to
dry Quik ‘n’ Dri™?
Drying times is a variable that depends on the amount of material to be dried,
the ambient temperature, the porosity of the surface on which Quik ‘n’
Dri™ is laid out and the level of water saturation. As a result
we recommend a Prep & Rotate strategy. For smooth continuous
dehydration take 5 - 10 minutes to prep your granule bed by removing
granules that have expanded to 50% - 70% of their maximum size and place
them in your regeneration box. Add fresh granules if required. Also
To avoid cross contamination used separate drying towers (and granules)
for WVO and BD.
5) What is the residency
time required for a column set-up?
First note that
absorption speed is a function of temperature where higher temperature causes faster absorption. Independent
test conducted shows that Quik ‘n’ Dri™ can operate under the same flow conditions as
those of standard purification resins.
6) How many absorb/dry
cycles will Quik ‘n’ Dri™ deliver?
That is a function of how regularly you reuse the product, however the
product was designed to have a multi-year lifespan providing you
dewatering capabilities for less than a penny per gallon.
